The Russian-American project “Chicken Kingdom” is a fully integrated producer of poultry meat, one of the largest companies of its kind in Russia. The Company’s production complex located on the territory of the Lipetsk, Voronezh and Bryansk regions of the Russian Federation uses cutting-edge technologies in poultry breeding. The complex includes two poultry processing plants, a feed mill with a grain elevator, four breeder farms, three hatcheries and thirteen broiler farms.     

          The project was designed and realized by “Agribusiness Partners International, L.P.”, an American investment fund. The project started with the construction of a production complex in the Lipetsk Region and two poultry farms located in the Voronezh Region later joined the complex. Putting in practice its program of strategic development, in 2004 OJSC “Chicken Kingdom” purchased a complex of business assets in the Bryansk Region with the goal of constructing a number of production facilities similar to those in the Lipetsk Region. The reconstruction of Bryansk farms started early 2005 and was put into operation later that year and on July 20, 2006, the opening ceremony for the poultry processing plant in Bryansk was held.

          While the poultry processing plant in Lipetsk produces mainly frozen broiler meat, the production complex in Bryansk is oriented at producing fresh products.  The start-up of the Bryansk project is a very considerable step in the strategy of business development for OJSC “Chicken Kingdom” which aims to broaden the geography of the Company’s presence on the territory of Russia.

          In contrast to the closed-cycle poultry farms, having all production stages from growing poultry to killing situated in one area, which is traditional in Russia, the Company’s facilities are located in separate areas. This structure provides a continuous production process while reducing the risk of transmitting infection. In addition, OJSC “Chicken Kingdom” owns three breeder farms, which, in combination with the toughest measures of sanitary and veterinary control guarantees the production of the Company’s fertile hatching eggs for the purposes of broiler breeding. Unlike other Russian processors, OJSC “Chicken Kingdom” adopts floor poultry management in its operations. This allows the highest hatchability and uniformity levels, eliminates cull, and consequently increases the quality of the final products.

          In Lipetsk the Company uses patented formulations of poultry feeds based on the optimal combination of ecologically pure raw materials. In addition, the Company uses a unique refrigeration technology called blast freezing. This technique minimizes the traumatizing effect of ice crystals on the cells and muscle tissues while reducing the risk of bacteria growth. This technology also keeps the maximum level of nutrients and vitamins within the products (the products frozen this way are equal in their qualities to fresh-killed or chilled chicks). In Bryansk we have adopted a progressive practice of atomization cooling. This method, as compared to water cooling, is more effective, and its advantage is that bacterial contamination of products if fully excluded and thus the highest level of biosafety is maintained.
